Montebello entered their tilt with San Gabriel on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They put the hurt on the Matadors with a sharp 16-0 win. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 13-0 win last Tuesday.

Isaiah Cervantes and Manny Arana made a big impact while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Cervantes tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Arana tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Furthermore, Cervantes didn't allow a single earned run, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in April of 2024. At bat, Cervantes scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3, while Arana scored two runs and stole four bases while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

In other pitching news, Isaac Solorzano looked comfortable as he struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, Nathan Ibarra was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Devin Lopez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Montebello pushed their record up to 7-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.7 runs over those games. As for San Gabriel, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
