The Malcolm Clippers will head out on the road to face off against the Platteview Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, it was close, but Malcolm sidestepped North Bend Central for a 51-49 win.
Among those leading the charge was Maddox Meyer, who scored 15 points. That makes it two consecutive games in which he has scored at least 25% of Malcolm's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Cunningham, who scored 9 points.
Meanwhile, winning is just a little bit easier when you work as a team to rack up nine more assists than your opponent, a fact Platteview proved on Tuesday. They blew past Plattsmouth 60-33 on the road. The win made it back-to-back wins for Platteview.
Among those leading the charge was Jaxon Adams, who scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds. The match was his third in a row with at least ten points. Braden Staudt was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 7 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Auburn's win bumped their season record to 0-0 while Malcolm's defeat dropped theirs to 1-1.
Saturday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy game: Malcolm haven't given up the ball easily this season, having only averaged 0 turnovers per game. It's a different story for Platteview, though, as they've been averaging 9.3 per game. Given Malcolm's sizeable advantage in that area, Platteview will need to find a way to close that gap. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
Malcolm might still be hurting after the 66-45 defeat they got from Platteview in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Malcolm avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
