Gracie Watley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Addison Petersen, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Maylee Gabey, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.
Hamilton County is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 3-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.8 runs over those games. The win got Suwannee back to even at 4-4.
Hamilton County's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's game. Hamilton County has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.2 stolen bases per game. Hamilton County couldn't quite get it done against Suwannee when the teams last played back in April of 2023 as they fell 5-2. Can Hamilton County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
