The Portola Tigers entered their tilt with the Quincy Trojans with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. Portola walked away with a 69-62 win over Quincy on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Portola's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Connor Sheridan led the charge by dropping a double-double on 26 points and 19 rebounds. Sheridan is absolutely dominating the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Liam Bowling, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Portola is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Quincy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-15.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Portola on the road again on Friday and play against Redding Christian at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. As for Quincy, they will face off against Burney at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Burney is out to stop a five-game streak of losses at home.
