Hugoton hasn't had much luck against Cimarron recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Eagles will challenge the Bluejays at 4:00 p.m. The last three games Hugoton has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Having struggled with seven losses in a row, Hugoton turned things around against Lakin on Thursday. They skirted past the Broncs 7-6.
Maddie Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emery Anderson, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Brinlee Austin also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Hugoton hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are 3-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Lakin hit Cimarron with a five-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bluejays lost 12-2 to the Broncs. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest defeat the Bluejays have suffered since April 2nd.
Cimarron saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Quinn Campbell, who went 1-for-3 with one triple and one run.
Hugoton's record is now 3-9. As for Cimarron, their loss dropped their record down to 15-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Hugoton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 7.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cimarron struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Hugoton might still be hurting after the 22-8 defeat they got from Cimarron when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
