The Altamont Indians will head out on the road to square off against the St. Anthony Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Altamont is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
Last Saturday, Altamont came up short against Tuscola and fell 43-30. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Altamont in their matchups with Tuscola: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite their loss, Altamont saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Kaidyn Miller, who scored six points along with 14 rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Another player making a difference was Aden McManaway, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, St. Anthony had already won 13 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.8 points), and they went ahead and made it 14 on Saturday. They came out on top against Nokomis by a score of 43-30. Given St. Anthony's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 65th, while Nokomis is ranked 375th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Altamont's defeat dropped their record down to 18-7. As for St. Anthony, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 26-4 record this season.
Altamont strolled past St. Anthony in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 by a score of 71-55. The rematch might be a little tougher for Altamont since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
