The Jeannette Jayhawks and the Connellsville Falcons will round out the year against one another at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday at. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Jeannette has three straight victories, Connellsville has 18 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Jeannette has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 24 points or more this season. Everything went their way against Leechburg on Tuesday as Jeannette made off with a 55-29 victory. Given Jeannette's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 265th, while Leechburg is ranked 672nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jeannette's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Xavier Odorisio, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Odorisio scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Noah Sunder, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, Connellsville had to suffer through a rough 70-35 loss at the hands of Albert Gallatin. Connellsville has not had much luck with Albert Gallatin recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Jeannette pushed their record up to 6-2 with that victory, which was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.6 points per game. As for Connellsville, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-8.
Jeannette strolled past Connellsville in their previous meeting back in December of 2021 by a score of 57-42. Does Jeannette have another victory up their sleeve, or will Connellsville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
