Teague is 8-2 against the Elks since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Teague Lions will be playing at home against the Elkhart Elks at 7:00 p.m. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with three consecutive losses for Teague and nine for the Elks.
Last Friday, Teague had to suffer through a rough 95-42 loss at the hands of the Black Cats. While losing is never fun, Teague can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1081st, while the Black Cats are ranked 398th).
Despite the defeat, Teague had strong showings from Joshua Owens, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, and Clifford Coleman, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Owens has scored all season.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 79-44, which was the final score in Elkhart's tilt against the Panthers on Tuesday. Elkhart was down 63-36 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
Teague has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Elkhart, they dropped their record down to 10-20 with that defeat, which was their sixth straight at home.
Teague came out on top in a nail-biter against the Elks in their previous meeting back in January, sneaking past 59-57. Will Teague repeat their success, or do the Elks have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
