Basketball Recap: Haleyville Piles Up the Points Against Winston County

After losing to Winston County the last time they met, Haleyville decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Haleyville Lions simply couldn't be stopped on Thursday as they easily beat the Winston County Yellowjackets 54-27. The Lions have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 27 points or more this season.

Despite the loss, Winston County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Maci Blevins posted two points and seven boards. Those seven rebounds gave Blevins a new career-high.

Haleyville's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Winston County, with the defeat, they broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 17-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Haleyville won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Covenant Christian at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Winston County, they also won't have to wait long for more action: they'll face off against Sumiton Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
