Polk County is 2-8 against Brevard since December of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Polk County Wolverines will head out on the road to take on the Brevard Blue Devils at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Polk County unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell to East Rutherford 54-48. Polk County has struggled against East Rutherford recently, as their contest on Friday was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.
The losing side was boosted by Kylie Lewis, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 14 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Bailey Staton, who scored 14 points.
Even though they lost, Polk County were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as East Rutherford only racked up nine assists.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Brevard's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They received a tough blow as they fell 45-28 to Hendersonville.
Polk County's record is now 9-7. As for Brevard, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-11.
Polk County was taken down by Brevard 61-26 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Polk County avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
