Kaukauna is 8-2 against Appleton West since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Galloping Ghosts will be playing at home against the Terrors at 4:30 p.m. Kaukauna's pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so Appleton West's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Tuesday just wasn't the day for Kaukauna's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Fond du Lac on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Appleton West). They never let Oshkosh North get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory on Friday. The Terrors haven't had any issues with the Spartans recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.
Loren Georger made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 15 over six innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Appleton West is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 1-8 otherwise. Georger was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Cameron St. John was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Charlie Blevins was another key player, getting on base in two of his three plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.
Appleton West lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Kaukauna's defeat dropped their record down to 7-6. As for Appleton West, their victory bumped their record up to 3-9.
Kaukauna beat Appleton West 4-1 in their previous meeting back in April. Do the Galloping Ghosts have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Terrors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
