The Animas Panthers lost against the Cliff Cowboys/Cowgirls back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Animas fell 39-30 to Cliff. Animas has not had much luck with Cliff recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Animas' loss came despite strong showings from Journey Sheehan and Sofia Martinez. Sheehan scored seven points along with seven rebounds, while Martinez scored eight points along with two steals.
Animas' defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Cliff, they are on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-2 record this season.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Animas' road trip will continue as they head out to face Magdalena at 4:30 p.m. on February 13th. Magdalena will roll in looking for their 11th straight win, something Animas surely won't give up without a fight. As for Cliff, they will head out on the road to square off against Quemado at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
