It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Holdenville Wolverines can now relate to. They fell to Purcell 26-20. Holdenville has not had much luck with Purcell recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Holdenville's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performance. Perhaps the best among them was Izaia King, who rushed for 120 yards, and also threw for 24 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes.
Holdenville's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Purcell, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-2.
Holdenville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Purcell will square off against Millwood at TBD on Friday. Millwood is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road.
