If the Jersey Village Falcons were feeling good off their 42-0 takedown of the Northbrook Raiders last Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Jersey Village suffered a tough 51-27 defeat at the hands of Stratford on Saturday. Jersey Village was down 44-13 at the end of the third quarter, which was just too much to recover from.
Despite the loss, Jersey Village still got an impressive performance from Josh Nunez, who picked up 203 receiving yards and three touchdowns. Nunez's longest reception was for an incredible 71 yards. Another player making a difference was Quinton Jones, who rushed for 110 yards and a touchdown.
Aaron Deleon was his usual excellent self, throwing for 409 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80.8% of his passes, and also rushing for 82 yards and two touchdowns. Braxton Wakefield was another key contributor, picking up 119 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Jersey Village's loss was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 5-5. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely Stratford, Memorial, and Cy-Fair. As for Stratford, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-3.
Jersey Village will head out on the road to face off against Lamar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lamar has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 426 points over their last seven matchups. As for Stratford, they will take on Westbury at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Westbury is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
