Texline is 10-0 against the Tigers since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Tuesday. The Texline Tornadoes will head out on the road to square off against the Hartley Tigers at 7:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Texline has 11 straight wins, the Tigers have three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Texline put the finishing touches on their 22nd blowout victory of the season on Friday. They really took it to Wildorado for the full four quarters, racking up a 71-26 victory on the road. Texline pushed the score to 53-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Mustangs had no chance of recovering from.
It was another big night for Hayden Drumm, who went 9 for 13 from beyond the arc en route to 33 points and 1 assist. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Joe Clay, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Hartley ended up a good deal behind the Cougars last Friday and lost 56-39.
Texline pushed their record up to 26-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 86.5 points per game. As for Hartley, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 11 of their last 12 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-13 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Texline against the Tigers in their previous meeting back in January as the team secured a 79-15 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Texline since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
