Brodhead has gone 8-2 against Clinton recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Tuesday. The Cardinals will head out on the road to square off against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Brodhead is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Brodhead got the win against East Troy by a conclusive 11-5. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Trojans recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive win against them.
Ava Risum made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over 5.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Elliemay Allen was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Tatum Ceslok, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.
Brodhead kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Clinton, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Whitewater 3-1.
Ashley Theisen looked comfortable as she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ella Roehl, who went 1-for-2 with one home run.
Clinton has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Brodhead, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3.
Both Brodhead and Clinton just can't seem to miss. The Cardinals have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Clinton struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.3 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Brodhead came out on top in a nail-biter against Clinton when the teams last played back in April, sneaking past 4-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
