The Simi Valley Pioneers are taking a road trip to square off against the Newbury Park Panthers at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, everything went Simi Valley's way against Dos Pueblos as Simi Valley made off with a 14-3 victory.

02/18/25 vs Rio Mesa | 5 |

Francesca Hall spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. Those seven strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Allison Hinds, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Bella Voorhees also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Simi Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dos Pueblos only posted a batting average of .310.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Newbury Park faced off against West Ranch on Wednesday. Newbury Park was the clear victors by a 14-3 margin over West Ranch. The win continues a trend for the Panthers in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won three in a row.
Veronica Wasserman tossed a big game, pitching five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Newbury Park got a massive performance out of Hanna Porter, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Janessa Gutierrez, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Simi Valley's record is now 3-1. As for Newbury Park, their record now sits at 5-1.
Both the two teams just can't seem to miss. Simi Valley has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.8 hits per game. However, it's not like Newbury Park struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 4.8 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Simi Valley came up short against Newbury Park in their previous meeting back in February of 2022, falling 5-0. Can Simi Valley avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
