St. Joseph Academy has gone 9-1 against Magnificat recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Jaguars will venture away from home to challenge the Blue Streaks at 5:00 p.m. St. Joseph Academy is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.
Holy Name hit St. Joseph Academy with a five-run fourth inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Jaguars lost 12-1 to the Green Wave. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Jaguars couldn't push the score so high this time.
Magnificat not only won two weeks ago, but they posted their biggest win since April 22, 2024 (when they won 23-0). They were the clear victors by a 21-3 margin over Maple Heights. With that victory, the Blue Streaks brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.
Marylynn Kennedy made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kennedy was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cami Riordan, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kate Hershey, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.
Magnificat always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .775. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
The win made it two in a row for Magnificat and bumps their season record up to 4-8. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 8 runs in those games. As for St. Joseph Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-13.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Joseph Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .314. However, it's not like Magnificat struggles in that department as they've averaged .361. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
St. Joseph Academy took their win against Magnificat in their previous matchup on April 9th by a conclusive 18-4 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Jaguars since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
