Natalia is 0-4 against Hondo since November of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Natalia Mustangs will be playing at home against the Hondo Owls at 6:15 p.m. Hopefully Natalia focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Tuesday.
Natalia posted their biggest victory since November 30, 2023 on Tuesday. They really took it to Dilley for the full four quarters, racking up a 54-24 victory on the road. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Natalia.
Yahdi Lujan was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with five steals. Lujan is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordyn Rymers, who scored five points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Hondo's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They had to suffer through a rough 69-39 loss at the hands of Lytle. Hondo has not had much luck with Lytle recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Natalia's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 10-17. As for Hondo, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-8.
Natalia was taken down by Hondo 58-25 when the teams last played back in February of 2023. Can Natalia avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
