Volleyball Recap: Brainerd Gets the Win

Brainerd posted their closest win since October 12, 2024 on Saturday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Nevis Tigers 2-1. The Warriors haven't had any issues with the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Brainerd who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 15-25, 15-5.

Cora Clough paced Brainerd's offense, picking up six kills. Clough got some help from Bella Goggleye and her 16 assists. Finally, Ruthie Owen kept Brainerd's defense grounded, leading the team with four blocks.

Brainerd's victory bumped their record up to 3-13. As for Nevis, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 7-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Brainerd will challenge St. Cloud Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Nevis, they will venture away from home to take on Sebeka at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
