The Eastmark Firebirds had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 47.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They came out on top against Arizona College Prep by a score of 47-39. Given Eastmark's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 46th, while Arizona College Prep is ranked 186th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Eastmark can attribute much of their success to Anna LaFountain, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Riley Farnstrom was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with two steals.
Eastmark is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. As for Arizona College Prep, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-12 record this season.
Eastmark and American Leadership Academy will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. As for Arizona College Prep, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Combs at 7:00 p.m.
