Baseball Game Preview: Discovery Spartans vs. Victory Christian Academy Storm

The Discovery Spartans will venture away from home to challenge the Victory Christian Academy Storm at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Discovery is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Four Corners just ended the team's three-game winning streak two weeks ago. They fell just short of the Coyotes by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Spartans have suffered since March 3rd.

Jose Quintero was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while going 2-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Edrick Rivera was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.

Meanwhile, Monday just wasn't the day for Victory Christian Academy's offense. They took a 4-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mulberry on Monday. The game marked the first time this season in which the Storm were not able to get on the board.

This is the second loss in a row for Victory Christian Academy and nudges their season record down to 12-6. Those defeats can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 7 runs in those games. As for Discovery, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Discovery has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.2 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Victory Christian Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
