The Golden Demons lost against the Green Mountain Rams back in January of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Golden took a 55-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Green Mountain. Golden has not had much luck with Green Mountain recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Golden lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Slade Pike, who scored nine points. Alex Erger was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Green Mountain found their leader in underclassman Tre Gutierrez, who scored 16 points. It was the first time this season that Gutierrez scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of George Soppe, who scored six points along with seven rebounds.
Golden has not been sharp recently as the team's lost four of their last five matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-6 record this season. As for Green Mountain, their win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-8.
Golden won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Standley Lake at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Hopefully Standley Lake focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Saturday. As for Green Mountain, they won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Wheat Ridge at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Green Mountain knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 18 contests -- so hopefully Wheat Ridge likes a good challenge.
