It was a good run, but the Highland Prep Honey Badgers unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 48-40 to Phoenix Christian. Highland Prep was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Phoenix Christian apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
When it comes to explaining why Highland Prep lost, one person who can't be blamed is Darius McKnight. Despite the final result, he scored 13 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Kohen Hill was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with two steals.
Bryce Anderson was his usual excellent self, scoring 27 points for Phoenix Christian. Anderson is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Malakhai Moore Neal, who scored ten points.
Highland Prep's defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Phoenix Christian, the victory (which was their 13th in a row) raised their record to 16-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland Prep will take on Mountainside at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Mountainside has now lost nine straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 27. As for Phoenix Christian, they will be playing at home against Highland Prep at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
