Mountain Empire has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Health Sciences Surgeons at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain Empire will be strutting in after a victory while the Surgeons will be coming in after a loss.
You can't lose the matchup if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Mountain Empire's strategy against the Lions on Thursday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Mountain Empire blew the Lions out of the water with a 54-13 final score. The matchup was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Mountain Empire had established a 30 point advantage.
Mountain Empire's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Corey Vann, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine steals. Vann hasn't dropped below two steals for five straight games. Another player making a difference was Andrew Sepulveda, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten rebounds.
Meanwhile, Health Sciences had to suffer through a rough 70-34 loss at the hands of the Royals. Health Sciences has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mountain Empire has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season. As for Health Sciences, their loss dropped their record down to 4-9.
Mountain Empire was able to grind out a solid victory over the Surgeons in their previous meeting back in January, winning 58-51. The rematch might be a little tougher for Mountain Empire since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
