Emmanuel Pozo was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Those four hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Derrion Howard, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Thornwood is undefeated when Howard posts two or more runs, but 3-4 otherwise. Amira Hondras was another key player, earning one RBI, one run, and one stolen base.
Thornwood was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Kankakee only posted a batting average of .250.
Meanwhile, while Bremen put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Longwood. The Braves put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 15-0 victory.
Like Thornwood, Bremen also got a great game from a two-way player: Aiden Gonzales. He struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). Gonzales was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Bremen got a massive performance out of Ashton Cardinal, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was RJ Harris, who got on base in both of his plate appearances with four stolen bases and two runs.
Thornwood's win bumped their record up to 7-4. As for Bremen, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
