The Garinger Wildcats can finally bid farewell to their three-game losing streak thanks to their game on Tuesday. They enjoyed a cozy 51-36 win over East Mecklenburg. That's another feather in the cap for Garinger, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Garinger's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Raziah Mitchell led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 18 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kim'mya Kelly, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
East Mecklenburg's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jurnee Darling, who scored 12 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Ava Stallings, who scored no points along with 18 rebounds.
Even though they lost, East Mecklenburg smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Garinger pushed their record up to 12-8 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for East Mecklenburg, they have not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-14 record this season.
