Cheyenne Mountain is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will be playing at home against the Centaurus Warriors at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their games after big wins in their previous games.
Centaurus will be up against a hot Cheyenne Mountain squad: the team just extended their winning streak to six. The Red-Tailed Hawks claimed a resounding 41-6 victory over Doherty. With the Red-Tailed Hawks ahead 32-0 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Cheyenne Mountain's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Donovan Sandoval, who rushed for 91 yards on only nine carries. Those 91 rushing yards gave Sandoval a new career-high.
Cheyenne Mountain's run defense was locked in: Doherty could only muster -0.4 yards per carry. The team can thank Cole Rueschhoff for the heroic effort on defense: he. Cheyenne Mountain didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 7.1.
Cheyenne Mountain didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Mason Godshall and Caden Vinson. Another thorn in Doherty's side was Rueschhoff, who picked up a sack, made 13 total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended one pass.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Centaurus, who bounced back after a loss on the road on September 12th. They breezed past Mountain Range to the tune of 38-6 last Friday. The result was nothing new for the Warriors, who have now won three contests by 32 points or more so far this season.
Centaurus' defense made their presence known, laying out Cameron Williams five times. Leading the way was Ty Schreiber with two sacks.
Cheyenne Mountain's win bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Centaurus, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
Friday's game might be decided in the trenches. Cheyenne Mountain has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 311.4 rushing yards per game. It's a different story for Centaurus, though, as they've been averaging only 95.6 rushing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant running game?
Cheyenne Mountain skirted past Centaurus 26-23 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. Do the Red-Tailed Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Warriors turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
