Memorial is on a five-game streak of home wins, while Katy is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Mustangs will welcome the Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Memorial is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Wisdom 50-6. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 181st, while the Generals are ranked 1010th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Kade Gulledge was his usual excellent self, rushing for 144 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries. He has been hot, having also posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last eight times he's played. Myles Goebel was in the mix as well, providing Memorial with two scores.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Memorial was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 288 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 157 rushing yards every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Katy was fully in charge on Thursday, breezing past George Ranch 42-7. The Tigers pushed the score to 42-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Longhorns cut but never quite recovered from.
Memorial better keep an eye on Tremayne Hill. He was instrumental in Katy's win, rushing for 144 yards and two TDs on only 12 carries. The bulk of those rushing yards came from one huge play: a run that gained an incredible 78 yards.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Katy, racking up 12 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Drake Hopkins, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Katy's defense and their three sacks. Munachi Obeta was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. Reid Garrelts was another major factor on D, picking up a sack, forcing one fumble, and making ten total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Memorial's record now sits at 10-1. As for Katy, their record is now 9-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Memorial has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 245.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Katy struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 361 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Memorial took a serious blow against Katy in their previous matchup back in November of 2022, falling 62-21. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Mustangs were down 41-14.
