Gainesville entered their tilt with Alton on Monday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Comets 12-6. That's more bragging rights for the Bulldogs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gainesville's victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-7. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Alton, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 9-8.

Alton wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 2-1 victory against Norwood on the 15th. Hopefully Gainesville paid attention to the Comets' game: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Comets at 3:00 p.m. on Monday.
