Basketball Recap: Mountain Crest Skates Past Deseret Peak with Ease

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mountain Crest). They claimed a resounding 60-20 win over the Deseret Peak Golden Eagles. With the Mustangs ahead 29-5 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.

Mountain Crest was led to victory by Easton Pugmire and Jackson Branz. Pugmire went 5-for-9 on his way to 14 points and seven rebounds, while Branz shot 56% from the field en route to 12 points. Another player making a difference was Tyler Baldwin, who posted six points and five boards.

Mountain Crest moved to 4-4 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Deseret Peak, their loss dropped their record down to 0-9.

Mountain Crest didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 43-40 defeat against Roy on the 13th. As for Deseret Peak, they will be home for the holidays to greet Stansbury at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles will be up against the Stallions' rather soft defense (which has allowed 63.38 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
