Paoli and Orleans are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2017, but likely not for long. The Rams will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against the Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. Paoli's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Orleans' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Paoli fell victim to Perry Central and their airtight pitching crew on Monday. They fell just short of the Commodores by a score of 2-0. Having soared to a lofty 14 runs in the game before, the Rams' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Paoli saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raleigh Klunk, who went 1-for-2 with one double. That double marked the first that Klunk has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Orleans had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against Eastern Greene on Saturday as they made off with an 8-2 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Bulldogs have posted against the Thunderbirds since May 13, 2017.
Kaden Berning spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on five hits.
On the hitting side, Dane Freed was excellent, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Asher Robinson, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Paoli's loss dropped their record down to 8-7. As for Orleans, their victory bumped their record up to 6-15.
Paoli was able to grind out a solid win over Orleans when the teams last played back in April, winning 7-2. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
