D2 District 2 (8 Man) recap October 8, 2013
Luke Ericson and Colton Kuhnel provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Scribner-Snyder. The connection was good for 65 yards, the longest such play in D2 District 2 (8 Man) this season.
Nebraska Lutheran extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Mead, 64-14. The victory was the sixth in a row for the team.
Osceola's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Ericson threw for 116 and 1 touchdown and Kuhnel had 63 yards receiving. On the ground Ericson chipped in 99 yards. Trevor Carlson helped Osceola's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 27 yards.
Eric Hays was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Bulldogs fell to the Trojans. The 6-foot-5 defensive end recorded 1 fumble and grabbed 1 sack.
Kuhnel was the best wideout in the league this week as Osceola lost to Scribner-Snyder. Kuhnel tallied 2 receptions for 63 yards. Carlson helped Osceola's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 27 yards.
One of D2 District 2 (8 Man)'s premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when T.J. Nielsen's team and Nebraska Lutheran face off next week. Ericson has thrown for 401 yards and 6 touchdowns this season, while Sam Green has plagued opposing QBs to the tune of 4.0 sacks.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Benjy Wells' team takes on the Bulldogs. At the moment, the Knights are in first, while Osceola is in third.
The league will see a high scoring game when Nebraska Lutheran and the Bulldogs face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Knights comes in having scored 384 this season, while Osceola has scored 176. Nebraska Lutheran scored 64 points last week as it defeated the Raiders.
The Knights took down Mead 64-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Wesley Jardim ran for 96 yards in the win.
