The Perry-Lecompton Kaws will challenge the Lawrence Chesty Lions at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Perry-Lecompton was able to grind out a solid win over Royal Valley, taking the game 6-2. The victory continues a trend for the Kaws in their matchups with the Panthers: they've now won three in a row.
Olivia Hart was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in seven consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Macie Corcoran and Jolie Corcoran did most of the damage at the plate: Macie went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Jolie went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Perry-Lecompton was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .385. They are 5-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Lawrence had to kick off their season on the road on Saturday, but they showed no ill effects. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Emporia a 2-0 shutout.
Not much got past Keira Norris, who gave up just a hit and racked up eight Ks to keep Emporia off the board.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zoey Barber, who went 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
The win got Perry-Lecompton back to even at 11-11. As for Lawrence, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
