The Archbishop Ryan Raiders and Ragdolls will head out on the road to face off against the St. Joseph's Prep Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Archbishop Ryan's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 11 contests.
Last Sunday, Archbishop Ryan faced Roman Catholic in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Archbishop Ryan came out on top against Roman Catholic by a score of 64-57. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Thomas Sorber continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 23 points and 12 rebounds. He hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for 20 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Darren Williams, who scored 14 points.
Meanwhile, even though Conwell-Egan Catholic scored an imposing 68 points on Sunday, St. Joseph's Prep still came out on top. St. Joseph's Prep walked away with a 78-68 victory over Conwell-Egan Catholic. Given St. Joseph's Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Conwell-Egan Catholic is ranked 299th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Archbishop Ryan's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-7. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.5 points per game. As for St. Joseph's Prep, their win bumped their record up to 17-5.
Archbishop Ryan came up short against St. Joseph's Prep in their previous meeting back in January, falling 57-52. Can Archbishop Ryan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
