5A District 4 recap October 29, 2013
Pryor extended the longest winning streak in 5A District 4 this week by beating Tahlequah, 41-15. This was the team's fifth consecutive win.
Central made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,078 from 6,806. The improvement was the result of a 39-21 victory over Claremore last week.
The Braves' offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. DeAngelo Brewer threw for 105 and 1 touchdown and Barre had 33 yards receiving. On the ground Brewer chipped in 261 yards. West helped Central's passing attack out by catching 1 ball for 35 yards.
Brewer was a beast in the backfield as Central defeated the Zebras.
Riggins made the biggest impact on defense this week as Don Gibson's team topped Claremore. He forced 1 fumble and grabbed 1 sack.
Brewer put up the best numbers through the air as the Braves defeated Rob Gilbreath's team.
The Zebras' Brinley Brown and Dustin Basks led the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Brown has thrown for 1,123 yards this season, while Basks has 31 catches for 560 yards. Pryor's Brennon Barth leads the league in rushing yards with 1,120.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Pryor takes on second place Collinsville. The Tigers beat the Tigers last week, while Collinsville topped East Central.
Central's Brewer is a mere 98 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. Brewer has rushed for 902 yards on 122 carries so far this year.
The top two defenses in the league will face off this season when the Cardinals take on Pryor. Collinsville has allowed 208 points this season, while the Tigers have given up 191. Kevin Jones' team allowed 34 points last week as it defeated the Cardinals.
The Cardinals led 5A District 4 in scoring this week after putting up 55 points on East Central.
