Basketball Recap: Redeemer Christian Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Redeemer Christian entered their match against Seven Rivers Christian on Friday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Redeemer Christian Lions lost 60-40 to the Seven Rivers Christian Warriors. While losing is never fun, the Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 585th, while the Warriors are ranked 255th).

Redeemer Christian lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Selena Martin, who posted 17 points in addition to five boards and four steals. Martin has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 11 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tahira Williams, who put up 12 points and five rebounds.

Seven Rivers Christian was led to victory by Annalise De Beer and Macy Roth. De Beer dropped a double-double on 28 points and 18 rebounds, while Roth dropped a double-double on 18 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Johnnie Spaulding, who had ten points and six assists.

Redeemer Christian's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 4-5. As for Seven Rivers Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season.

Redeemer Christian didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 37-36 defeat against First Academy on the 13th.
