The Christ Presbyterian Academy Lions will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the McCallie Blue Tornado at 7:30 p.m. on December 15th. Christ Presbyterian Academy has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 302 points over their last four matchups.
Even though LEAD Academy scored an imposing 65 points back in November, Christ Presbyterian Academy still came out on top. Christ Presbyterian Academy took down LEAD Academy 83-65. Given Christ Presbyterian Academy's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 20th, while LEAD Academy is ranked 114th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Christ Presbyterian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gunnar Lewis, who scored 21 points along with six assists and five rebounds. The match was Lewis' fourth in a row with at least ten points. Rowan Mactavish was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 14 rebounds.
Meanwhile, McCallie earned a 45-35 win over Ensworth on Saturday. Despite the victory, that was the fewest points McCallie has scored all season.
McCallie can attribute much of their success to Ryan Wingard, who scored 13 points, and Parker Robison, who scored 17 points. The match was Robison's sixth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kenneth Chime, who scored seven points along with 13 rebounds and three steals.
Christ Presbyterian Academy's victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-1. As for McCallie, their win bumped their record up to 8-1.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Christ Presbyterian Academy have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 32.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for McCallie, though, as they've been averaging only 27.9 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Christ Presbyterian Academy beat McCallie 57-45 when the teams last played back in December of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for Christ Presbyterian Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
