Watertown came tearing into Monday's game with seven straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 5.9 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over the Oregon Panthers. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Goslings have posted since April 24th.

Cali Craig spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Breanna Meracle, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Allison Howlett was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three RBI and one double.

Watertown's victory was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 17-4. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Oregon, their loss ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 21-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Watertown will venture away from home to face off against Beaver Dam at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Goslings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Golden Beavers have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season. As for Oregon, they are taking a road trip to square off against DeForest at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Panthers are facing the Norskies at the right time seeing as the Norskies are stuck on a four-game losing streak.
