The North Decatur Chargers will take on the Tri Titans at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. North Decatur has given up an average of 8.7 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
North Decatur lost 13-4 to Hauser on Thursday. The Chargers have struggled against the Jets recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost meeting.
Emma Schoettmer was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Brooklyn White, who went 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Tri had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out the Knights 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Titans have posted since June 1, 2024.
Macey Ballard spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 15 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Lyla Williams was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and one run.
Tri pushed their record up to 6-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average this season. As for North Decatur, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-3.
Monday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. North Decatur hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .451. However, it's not like Tri struggles in that department as they've averaged .396. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
North Decatur suffered a grim 10-0 defeat to Tri in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Will the Chargers have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
