Basketball Recap: Alto Skates Past New Summerfield with Ease

Alto won against Carlisle last Tuesday with 80 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. The Alto Yellowjackets blew past the New Summerfield Hornets, posting an 80-31 victory. Given the Yellowjackets' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 728th, while the Hornets are ranked 1523rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Alto to victory, but perhaps none more so than Derek Jordan, who went 8 of 14 on his way to 18 points and five assists. What's more, Jordan also racked up four boards, the most he's had since back in November of 2024. Another player making a difference was Jamarion Rollins, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 boards.

Alto has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.3 points per game. As for New Summerfield, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-13.

Alto will square off against Mt. Enterprise at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for New Summerfield, they will challenge Cushing at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. New Summerfield is facing Cushing at the right time seeing as Cushing is stuck on a four-game losing streak.
