Garfield hasn't had much luck against Ellet recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Rams will head out on the road to face off against the Orangement at 5:00 p.m. Garfield has given up an average of 17 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Garfield fell victim to Northwest and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 24-0 to the Indians. Having soared to a lofty 17 runs in the game before, the Rams' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Ellet, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand East a 20-0 shutout on Monday. The Orangement might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by 20 runs or more this season.
Ava Conelly made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one hit in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, Addy Lipply was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. LuLu Russell was another key player, going 1-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run.
Ellet was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .636. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
The victory got Ellet back to even at 4-4. As for Garfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Garfield has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ellet struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Garfield suffered a grim 23-0 defeat to Ellet in their previous meeting two weeks ago. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
