Baseball Game Preview: Washington Latin Public Charter School Lions vs. School Without Walls Penguins

The Washington Latin Public Charter School Lions will venture away from home to face off against the School Without Walls Penguins at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Washington Latin Public Charter School nor School Without Walls posted many runs in their last games, so it might be the pitching crews that decide this one.

Last Tuesday, Washington Latin Public Charter School didn't have quite enough to beat Riverdale Baptist and fell 3-2. That's two games in a row now that the Lions have lost by just one run.

Ben Blier put in work no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Blier was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Blier wasn't the only one making solid contact as two players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Thom Hayden, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another was Colt Gage-Adams, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, School Without Walls unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They fell just short of Georgetown Day by a score of 3-1 on Friday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Penguins have suffered since April 4, 2024.

Ellington Hunt made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases and one RBI. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.

Washington Latin Public Charter School couldn't quite finish off School Without Walls in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 13-11. Can Washington Latin Public Charter School avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
