Regis Jesuit took down Mountain Vista 56-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Matt Houghtaling threw for 85 yards and 2 touchdowns and ran for 21 yards during the win.
Douglas County and Highlands Ranch played the most contested game in 5A Continental this week, with Douglas County eventually emerging with a 44-41 victory. Ruel Rope threw for 80 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 82 yards in the win.
Eric Banzhaf was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Falcons fell to the Huskies. The 6-foot-2 senior recorded 1 fumble and grabbed 1 sack.
Keaton Thames threw for 155 yards and 3 touchdowns. He went 14-28 with 1 interception.
Brody Westmoreland provided a threat through the air and on the ground as ThunderRidge beat Chaparral. He completed 11 passes for 170 yards and 1 touchdown and also ran for 30 yards. Westmoreland's favorite target this week was Mark Hopper, who caught 6 passes for 95 yards.
Hopper was the best wideout in the league this week as the Grizzlies beat the Wolverines. Hopper tallied 6 receptions for 95 yards. Josh Brown helped ThunderRidge's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 45 yards.
6-foot-2 quarterback Thames of Highlands Ranch is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1,292. He has also thrown 17 touchdowns. The leading receiver in the league this season is Hopper. The ThunderRidge star has 39 catches for 753 yards.
Trey Smith of the Douglas County is only 66 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 115 carries Smith has put up 934 yards this year.
Next week's game between Darrel Gorham's team and the Raiders will feature a good passing match up as Thames will test his arm against J.J. Kilgore's defensive ability.
One of the league's premier quarterbacks will go head-to-head with its top pass rusher when the Falcons and Regis Jesuit face off next week.
The Golden Eagles are currently in fourth, while ThunderRidge is in first.
