Basketball Game Preview: Judge Memorial Catholic Bulldogs vs. American Heritage Patriots

Two dominant guards in JJ Apathjang and Mana Winitana are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Judge Memorial Catholic Bulldogs will welcome the American Heritage Patriots at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The timing is sure in Judge Memorial Catholic's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while American Heritage has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

In Friday's Canine Competition, Judge Memorial Catholic had to take the L. They fell 69-61 to Green Canyon on Friday. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Saturday (55), the Bulldogs still had to take the loss.

Loss or not, Judge Memorial Catholic got some senior leadership from Deng Deng and Apathjang. Deng went 6 of 11 from beyond the arc on his way to 27 points, while Apathjang posted 20 points in addition to seven assists and six boards. Apathjang's evening made it nine games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Aymen Ismail, who had six points and five boards.

Meanwhile, American Heritage lost to Timpview on the road by a 89-72 margin on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Patriots can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Utah basketball rankings (they are ranked 64th, while the Thunderbirds are ranked first).

Judge Memorial Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for American Heritage, they now have a losing record at 8-9.

Things could have been worse for Judge Memorial Catholic, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 73-58 loss to American Heritage in their previous matchup back in February of 2024.
