Baseball Recap: Manchester Wins Going Away Against Vandercook Lake

Manchester not only won on Monday, but they posted their biggest win since May 1, 2024. They put the hurt on the Vandercook Lake Jayhawks with a sharp 16-5 victory. The win continues a trend for the Flying Dutchmen in their matchups with the Jayhawks: they've now won four in a row.

Michael Navitskis and Bubba Duffing did most of the damage at the plate: Navitskis went 2-for-3 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base, while Duffing went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Chace Conklin, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Manchester always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .606. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Manchester back to even at 2-2. As for Vandercook Lake, they are on a 15-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Manchester is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Napoleon at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed eight runs per game on average), something the Flying Dutchmen will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Vandercook Lake, they are taking a road trip to square off against Homer at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
