Anderson came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Gridley, falling 26-4.
Anderson saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isabel Sturges, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. Sturges also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Mariah Moss was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in both of her plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Shasta got the win against Central Valley on Tuesday by a conclusive 19-9. The win continues a trend for the Wolves in their matchups with the Falcons: they've now won three in a row.
Alivia Ridenour made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3.
In other batting news, Anna Pe?a was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four runs, two triples, and four RBI. She continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Haley Salkeld, who went 2-for-5 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.
Shasta always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .550. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Anderson's loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Shasta, the victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-6.
Anderson's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. Anderson has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 6 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Shasta, though, as they've been averaging only 1.2 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Anderson continue to outrun the ball?
Anderson suffered a grim 24-0 defeat to Shasta in their previous meeting last Thursday. Can Anderson avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
