Adelanto hasn't had much luck against Granite Hills recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Saints will welcome the Cougars at 3:15 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Granite Hills will be up against a hot Adelanto squad: the team just extended their winning streak to four. The Saints came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 12-11 W against Barstow.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Granite Hills). They blew past Silverado 17-4 on Friday. Considering the Cougars have won six matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kathryn (Kat) McCartney was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed six innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits. McCartney was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her five plate appearances.
In other batting news, MacKinzie Gomez and Saylor Croom did most of the damage at the plate: Gomez went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Croom scored three runs while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits Croom has posted since back in April of 2024. Annabelle Gutierrez was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, one triple, and one run.
Granite Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .674. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Granite Hills is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 9-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.2 runs over those games. As for Adelanto, their victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6.
Adelanto might still be hurting after the 16-6 defeat they got from Granite Hills in their previous matchup back in March. Will the Saints have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other softball content.
