Gatewood has gone 8-2 against Brentwood recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Gatewood Gators will take on the Brentwood War Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Gatewood knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 12 matchups -- so hopefully Brentwood likes a good challenge.
Last Tuesday, Gatewood was able to grind out a solid victory over Central Fellowship Christian Academy, taking the game 80-70.

Matt Allen was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double with 38 points and 13 rebounds. His evening made it 49 games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. Another player making a difference was Kaden Keiser, who dropped a double-double with 17 points and 13 boards.
Gatewood smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Brentwood hadn't done well against Trinity Christian recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Brentwood came out on top against Trinity Christian by a score of 68-56. Given the War Eagles' advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 186th, while the Crusaders are ranked 536th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Brentwood's win came from a few key players Gatewood will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Zyion Andrews, who posted 17 points. That's the most points he has posted since back in February of 2024. Baylor Cobb was another key player, putting up 17 points.
Gatewood pushed their record up to 18-4 with the win, which was their 24th straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.4 points over those games. As for Brentwood, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-3.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as Gatewood and Brentwood are some of the highest-scoring teams around. Gatewood hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 71.3 points per game. However, it's not like Brentwood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 64.5 points. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can put up more.
Gatewood beat Brentwood 77-70 when the teams last played two weeks ago. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Brentwood's Tristan Robinson, who scored 30 points. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will Gatewood still be able to contain Robinson? There's only one way to find out.
