The Vista Grande Spartans can now show off ten landslide victories after their most recent contest on Thursday. They blew past Coronado 58-16 at home. Winning may never get old, but Vista Grande sure is getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
Vista Grande had a senior duo take command as Stefanie Trantham scored 13 points along with six steals and five assists and Chelzie Downs scored 14 points along with eight steals. Trantham is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games she's played. Another player making a difference was Victoria Fallon, who scored 11 points along with three steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Coronado struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Vista Grande posted 13 assists.
Vista Grande's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-11. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.3 points per game. As for Coronado, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-15.
Vista Grande won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Prospectors at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. Apache Junction has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 10. As for Coronado, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against the Buffaloes at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Arizona (Tempe is ranked 287th, while the Dons are ranked 283rd).
